What to Expect
For most patients Dr. Leedy will recommend Restylane. This is a very safe product and has the longest track record of all of the commonly used fillers today. Restylane is made of hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occuring substance found in all of our bodies. It is non-reactive so there is no need for allergy pre-testing. At the time of your consultation at the Cleveland Plastic Surgery Institute you can have the treatment if you would like. It is a simple process. The areas to be treated are first numbed with a topical numbing cream and sometimes with local injections of anesthetic. This is similar to injections that you may have at the dentist. Once the areas are numb Dr. Leedy will expertly place the injections to give you the improvement you are looking for. There may be a little bruising and swelling with the process that could last a day or two. The results last for six months. As time passes the product gradually disappears. Sometimes Dr. Leedy will recommend other products such as Radiesse and Juvederm.
