During the procedure, small incisions are made along your eyelids. Through these incisions, an instrument is inserted to separate your eyelid skin from the fat beneath it. The fat is removed and any unnecessary skin is trimmed off. For lower eyelid surgery, an incision is made on the inside of the eyelid, eliminating any risk of scarring. This procedure is best for patients who have fat under their eyes but not an excessive amount of skin.
Once the fat and skin have been removed, the incisions will be closed. The entire blepharoplasty takes about 60-150 minutes and is performed as an outpatient procedure.
