Let’s talk cellulite.

From one woman to another, cellulite affects about 90% of women after puberty. These dimples affect women of all shapes and sizes, and may dictate the length of the shorts or the clinginess of the leggings we wear. But now there is another option – one to reliably and meaningfully reduce cellulite.

In a single in-office treatment, the dimpling from cellulite is reduced with long lasting results.. Using Avéli, your doctor will pinpoint the culprit causing cellulite, and address it from the inside out. It is the only treatment of its kind that allows your doctor to be sure that she is treating the problem precisely.

Starting with a consultation, Dr. Wirtz will discuss your goals and work with you to create a plan based on your anatomy and concerns. Treatment of the buttocks and thighs can be completed in as little as one hour with this minimally invasive procedure. The procedure is completed using local anesthetic and smoother skin is evident as soon as swelling subsides, usually about 1-2 weeks!

If dimpling is keeping you from showing off your lower half this summer, consider coming in to discuss how we can help improve your confidence!

How to reduce cellulite with Avéli™
?

Avéli™ is an option for a range of women across the cellulite severity spectrum. The procedure is performed by one of our trained providers and uses a handheld device to manually target and release the complicated web of septa bands causing cellulite dimples.

Avéli™ addresses the primary structural cause of cellulite in 3 steps:

  1. Your provider guides the Avéli™ device under the skin directly to the targeted dimples.
  2. After we identifie the culprit septa bands causing a dimple, those septa are precisely released.
  3. We can confirm their release in real-time, delivering visibly smoother skin quickly after the procedure.

The most frequently asked questions about Aveli cellulite reduction treatments

Cellulite is characterized by dimples across the skin, particularly in the buttocks, posterior and lateral thighs. While the exact pathophysiology of cellulite is not fully understood, anatomical and imaging studies have shown several factors contribute to formation of cellulite.

Fibrous septa are small projections of tissue that connect the muscle layer to the skin, and help to keep your skin moving with your deeper tissues. These septa create an area of tethering, ie the center of the dimple, and the edges of the dimple are created by protrusion of the natural fat surrounding the septa.

While men can and do get cellulite, it is by far more common in women. Some estimates are as high as 80-98% of post-pubertal women have cellulite. One reason for this may be that the fibrous septa project at a 90 degree angle in women. Combined with slightly different (ie larger and taller) fat chamber structure in women, this seems to explain part of the reason why cellulite is a predominantly female phenomenon.

Cellulite affects women regardless of thickness of fatty tissue. Weight loss and liposuction will help with body contours and shaping, however will not necessarily improve on cellulite. In some cases, liposuction in very superficial plans may even make cellulite appearance worse.

Cellulite can never be fully ‘cured,’ but it can be reduced and improved. There have been multiple approaches to cellulite reduction over the years, including subcision systems, laser, massage devices, dissolving agents, and topical preparations.

At this time, CPSI is proud to offer Avéli, a tool that isolates the fibrous septae, confirms the septae responsible for cellulite dimples, and selectively cuts those septae. This results in rapid results that are long lasting and reliable.

CPSI recommends combining this in office cellulite reducing procedure with topical preparations including ZO’s Body Smoothing Cream and Body Emulsions to strengthen and smooth skin.

Cellulite reduction with Avéli is an in-office procedure that takes about 60-90 minutes, depending on the severity of the dimpling. A solution of numbing medication is used to keep you comfortable during the short procedure, and a few tiny incisions are used to access the dimples for release with the Avéli device. After the procedure, you wear compression for about 4 weeks to quickly reduce swelling. Some bruising can be expected, and usually is completely resolved within 2 weeks. After 1 month, you are ready to start showing off your results. Full results may take up to 3 months to see, and are durable at 1 year out from treatment.
