At the Cleveland Plastic Surgery Institute, we use a variety of breast lift techniques to minimize scarring.
The traditional approach involves making an anchor-shaped incision following the natural contour of the breast. Any excess skin that is causing the appearance of droopiness will be eliminated, and the nipples will be repositioned to a higher area of the breasts. The surrounding skin will be tightened and re-draped, making the breast area more firm and “perky.”
With short-scar breast lift techniques, residual scarring can be made as discreet as possible, and most scars will fade over time. Breast lifts are typically performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis.
You should expect some swelling, bruising, and numbness after the procedure. However, these side effects should dissipate within two to three weeks. Medication can control any residual pain and discomfort. In very rare cases, patients have reported permanent numbness following breast lift surgery. All possible complications and risks of the procedure can be minimized and will be discussed during your initial consultation.
