Dr. Leedy and his staff were easy to work with and worked closely with me to ensure I felt comfortable and prepared. From scheduling, to the actual surgery, and through the recovery, I am extremely happy with the entire process. On top of that, the results of my surgery could not have turned out better. I would highly recommend Dr. Leedy!
In today’s society, there’s a lot of pressure to look good – especially for men.
Cosmetic surgery procedures can help men improve their physique by reducing lines and wrinkles, eliminating fat deposits, and providing a recontoured, athletic looking body.
One of the most common aesthetic procedures for men is chin augmentation. Its goal is to reshape the chin by altering the size, position, and shape of the chin and jawbone.
What is male chin augmentation?
There are a few options to help balance facial features, create a more defined jawline, and even slim a double chin including:
- Chin implant. Implants are typically made from medical grade silicon and are placed directly onto the bone of the lower jawline to increase chin projection. They can increase chin length and width, depending on the shape of the implant and goals of the surgery.
- Filler. The use of dermal fillers such as Juvederm Volux or Restylane Defyne make a great non-surgical option for improving chin projection, length, and width. They are FDA approved and, in experienced hands, can make improvements that are long lasting but not permanent.
- Liposuction. Submental liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure that creates tiny incisions in the chin area and can be combined with a chin implant to sharpen the angle between your chin and your neck, and to make your chin appear to project more.

Results can last a lifetime. So long as the chin implant is placed properly, it should not migrate or disintegrate, and it will last for as long as you want it to.
Most fillers last between one to two years in the chin before being metabolized by your body. That said, it is impossible to say for certain how long fillers will last since everyone’s body is different.
This is based on personal preference. While chin filler is temporary, a chin implant is permanent. However, chin filler is a bit more cost effective to those just beginning to explore chin augmentation options. If you are looking for a permanent solution to strengthen the appearance of your chin, then a chin implant may be for you.
Depending on your overall facial dimensions and balance, alternative or additional procedures may be suggested for you to receive the best overall result.
